Is Acne treatment FSA/HSA eligible?
Yes. Over-the-counter acne treatments with active drug ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid are FSA and HSA eligible.
Why
What the IRS rules say
Acne products that contain an OTC active drug ingredient treat a medical skin condition and qualify under the CARES Act. Note that plain cleansers and moisturizers with no medicated active ingredient do not qualify.
Based on CARES Act (2020), Section 3702.
How to pay with FSA/HSA
You have two options. Swipe your FSA or HSA card at checkout and it comes straight out of your benefits, or pay your own way, keep the receipt, and file for reimbursement. Either works.
